It is a famous temple. When Markandeya prayed for his life, Siva killed Yama opening his third eye. That incident is said to have taken place here.

For getting a long life(Ayus) and to escape from unfortunate death(Apamruthyu), one needs to pray to this deity.

Here, the main offering is Sankhabhishekam. It is done by the temple Thanthri and is considered to be very powerful.

Upadevas are Karanayil Siva, Navamukunda, Gosala Krishna, Vettakkoru Makan, Durga & Ayyappa.

Location

India - State : Kerala 
It is situated in Malappuram district. If we catch the Shornur-Kozhikkode passenger train and get down at Kuttipuram or Tirur or Thirunavaya, you will get buses to go to this temple.
