Prayer from Rig Veda

कस्त्वा॑ स॒त्यॊ मदा॑नां॒ मंहि॑ष्ठो मत्स॒दन्ध॑सः ।
दृ॒ळ्हा चि॑दा॒रुजॆ॒ वसु॑ ॥ ४.३१.२ ॥

dRuLhA chidArujE vasu || 4.31.2 ||

Meaning of the Prayer Mantra:

 How do we (worship) You with sincere enthusiasm
- One, Who grants abundantly, Who destroys the darkness
in the mind firmly, making prosperity.

 Notes: 

1. mada - delight/zeal/excitement; maMhiShTha - granting abundantly;
dRuLhA (dRuDhA) - firm; Aruja - to destroy; vasu - treasure.

2. The worship of the Lord is not a mere ritual. It has to be done with
the enthusiasm. The seeker is praying for the enthusiasm in the worship.
For such a worship the Lord - Who is hailed as Asutosh - will destroy all
evilness in the mind making it a prosperous abode!

Agamas in fact make it clear that the worship is complete only when 
Mantra, Kriya and Bhava are present. The Bhava or enthusiasm is 
supported by the mantra and kriya.

சொல்லையாறித் தூய்மை செய்து காமவினை அகற்றி
நல்லவாறே உன்றன் நாமம் நாவில் நவின்று ஏத்த
வல்லவாறே வந்து நல்காய் வலிவலம் மேயவனே - சம்பந்தர்

அரும்பொடு மலர்கள் கொண்டாங்கு ஆர்வத்தை உள்ளே வைத்து
விரும்பி நல் விளக்கு தூபம் விதியினால் இடவல்லார்க்குக்
கரும்பினில் கட்டி போல்வார் கடவூர் வீரட்டனாரே - அப்பர்

அறவே பெற்றார் நின் அன்பர் ஆர்வங்கூர - மாணிக்க வாசகர்

3. Why should we pray for enthusiasm? While the individual 
puts the will for it, the Divine Grace makes it happen. While the 
worship is required to get the Grace, one is able to perform the worship
itself due to the Grace only.
