Meaning of the Prayer Song:

Oh Pumpavai! Can you go without seeing the Thaipoosam celebrated by the well ornated ladies offering the Pongal smeared in ghee to the One, Who resides at Kapalishwaram, Who sports the hand-smeared ash, in the great Mayilapur of nice ladies of lined eyes?

 Notes: 

1. puzukkal - pongal

2. This is the Thirupadhigam that Sambandhar sang to revive Poompavai. In this Padhigam every song celebrates different festivals happening in the Kapaleeshwarar Temple, Mylapore. 

3. Thaippoosam is one of the well celebrated festivals. Many temples either have Theerthavari or Theppotsavam for Thaippusam. In Kapaleeswarar temple, Sambandhar records the offering of Pongal to God.
