ಮನೆಯೊಳಗೆ ಮನೆಯೊಡೆಯನಿದ್ದಾನೊ ಇಲ್ಲವೊ?
ಹೊಸ್ತಿಲಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಲ್ಲು ಹುಟ್ಟಿ ಮನೆಯೊಳಗೆ ರಜ ತುಂಬಿ
ಮನೆಯೊಳಗೆ ಮನೆಯೊಡೆಯನಿದ್ದಾನೊ ಇಲ್ಲವೊ?
ತನುವಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಸಿ ತುಂಬಿ ಮನದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಷಯ ತುಂಬಿ
ಮನೆಯೊಳಗೆ ಮನೆಯೊಡೆಯನಿಲ್ಲ ಕೂಡಲಸಂಗಮದೇವ!

Meaning of the Prayer Song:

 Is the house owner in the house or not?
Grass has grown all around; 
Inside of the house is full of dust;
Is the house owner in the house or not?
Body is full of falsehood;
Mind is full of affairs;
The house owner is not in the house,
Oh Divine of Kudalasanagama!

 Notes: 

1. hosti - boundary; raja - dust; husi - falsehood;
viShaya - affair/matter.

2. A caring owner would not leave the house to be
surrounded by weeds and filled with dust.
If we are caring for ourselves why should we
leave ourselves drowned in falsehood?
Why should the mind be ever pre-occupied with
desires and affairs?
How can we offer such a body as the temple of Lord Shiva? 
How can we engage such a mind in the Bliss of God?
