  • When Sundaramurthy Swami visited this place, sound of mangalavadya was heard in one house and crying in the opposite houses simultaneously. An elderly person informed Sundarar, “Long back, two boys went to bathe in the lake when one was swallowed by a crocodile. For another, the Upanayana ritual is now performed with instrumental music. The mother of the dead boy in the opposite house weeps, remembering that the upanayanam would have been done for her son too if he was alive.” The parents of the dead boy fell down at the feet of Sundarar. Compassionate Sundarar went to the lake, called the crocodile into it and prayed to Avinasiyappan to command Kaladeva to give him the full-grown boy. Immediately, the crocodile brought the boy back to the lake. Sundarar performed upanayanam for him also at that time.
