  • In the contest of power between Adisesha and Vayu, five scattered peaks from Merumalai, which was completely covered by Adisesha, fell as five gem peaks on the earth. Among them, Diamond is this place. Others are 1. Red Gem - Thiruvannamalai, 2. Emerald- Thiru Ingoimalai, 3. Ruby - Thiru Vatpokki, 4. Blue Sapphire - Podhigai Hill. .
  • The Pandya king's finger grew curing his handicap and hence became the 'Pandik Kodumudi'  (Angavardhanapuram)
  • For Bharadwaja, Lord showed the cosmic dance without Muyalakan (Hyabasmara) in this place.

Specialities

  • The river Cauvery, which flows from north to south, flows eastwards at Kodumudi Shivasthalam.  Kodumudinathar Temple is situated on the west bank of river Cauvery.
  • Lord is Swayambumurthy. Shiva Lingam is in a peak form. Finger mark of Agasthya is found on the Shivalinga. Square Gomukhi.
  • On Chitrai Poornami, Kunjitapada Nataraja, gave a dance performance to Bharatvaja, standing without Muyalaka (Hyapasmara) and dances Chaturmukha Tandava. This is a rare to see Murthy.
  • Below the Dakshinamurthy there is only one form instead of the four Sanakadi Rishis. Dakshinamurthy has Jata. There is a Rishabham.
  • One part of the Vanni tree has thorns and the other part has no thorns. Considered to be a male tree, this vanni tree does not bloom and fruits do not ripen. If you put the leaves of this tree in water, no matter how many days the water doesn't get spoiled.
  • This place is called the Trimurti abode. It is believed that Brahma and Vishnu worshiped Lord Shiva in this temple.
  • An 11-day festival takes place in Chaitra month.
  • A large number of people gather to worship on Ashada 18th.
  • Eight inscriptions have been recorded in this temple.
  • Thirupandi Kodumudiudayar and Periya Thiruvadi Nayanar were given the villages of Thiruchitambala Nallur called Vithari, Elu Nutruvar Chaturvedi Mangalam, Thiruvunjalur, Vallipuram, Vadidudaiya Mangai Iyakaram and Thirukkattuthurai for the Masi Magha festival, worship, temple service etc.
  • According to the inscription in the Arthamandapam of Amman Temple, in the third year of Konerinmai, a man named Bodhamudiyan from Mayilur Vudaiyan alaias Podha Mudhiyavan installed Subramnya in the Eshwara Abode and Garuda in Vishnu abode and gave five gold coins each as offering for the well being of the king.
  • According to Amman's sanctum sanctorum, 20 Maa (10,000 Sq Ft per Ma) of land called Thiruchitambala Nallur were given to Tirupandik Kodimudiudayar and Vidhari Thiruchitambalamudayar, except the 4 Maa given to Melkarai Chamyur Natar in Vithari 
  • In the twenty-seventh year of Veera Narayanan Ravivarman gave to Thirukkodumudi Mahadeva the villages of Melakarai and Oonchalur in Chameyur for worship and for Masi Magha festival.
  • In the second year of Sundrapandiya Devar, the people of Poonthura gave Tirupandik Kodumudi Nayanar, the village of Kandiyadeva Nallur as an offering.
