Prayer from Rig Veda

ॐ

मा नो॑ म॒हान्त॑मु॒त मा नो॑ अर्भ॒कं मा न॒ उक्ष॑न्तमु॒त मा न॑ उक्षि॒तम् ।
मा नो॑वधिः पि॒तरं॒ मोत मा॒तरं॒ मा नः॑ प्रि॒यास्त॒न्वो॑ रुद्र रीरिषः ॥ १-११४-७ ॥

mA no mahAntamuta mA no arbhakaM mA na ukShantamuta mA na ukShitam |
mA novadhiH pitaraM mota mAtaraM mA naH priyAstanvo rudra rIriShaH || 1-114-7 ||

(mA no mahAntam uta mA no arbhakaM mA na ukShantam uta mA na ukShitam |
mA no vadhiH pitaraM mota mAtaraM mA naH priyAs tanvo rudra rIriShaH || )

Meaning of the Prayer Mantra:

 Oh Lord Rudra! May neither our elders nor the tender ones, 
neither our growing ones nor fully grown ones, 
neither our father nor the mother,
nor the body dear to us - be afflicted or killed!

 Notes: 

1. arbhakam - tender children; ukShanta - growing; ukShita - fully grown.
2. May the Lord Protect our dear ones from injuries!
