திரிமலத்தார் ஒன்று அதனிற் சென்றார்கள் அன்றி
ஒருமலத்தார் ஆயும் உளர்.  12

Song as Romanized text

uyiravai n-ilai

thirimalaththAr onRu athaniR senRArkaL anRi
orumalaththAr Ayum uLar.  12

Meaning of the Prayer Song:

There are souls with three filths,
one less and with only one filth.

 Notes:

1. This song classifies the complete set of souls into
three categories.
 thirimalaththAr
Those with all the three filths - Anava, kanma and maya
(ego, deed, illusion). These are called Sakala sous.

 onRu athaniR senRArkaL
Those with one less - i.e. with only two filths.
These are elevated souls who got the wisdom
and hence they are not subjected to illusion - maya.
So, they are subjected to only Anava and Karma.
These are called Pralayakala souls.

 orumalaththAr
Those with only one filth - Anava.
These are souls who have further reached the
stage of considering the dichotamy of karma in balance
(iru vinai oppu - samAH - Isavasya Upanishad)
These get liberated from the karma filth as well.
They are left with the residual Anava mala only.
