Meaning of the Prayer Song:

Oh Shiva, You are the Only One Who is the Ishvara
of everything that is born - bound or liberated!
Other than You where else is refuge for me,
who has rolling on the continuous distressing ego!
So, Oh Pashupati! Protect the surrendered me,
who is depressed in the flood of horrible births,
worn out and frightened!

 Notes:

1. janimat - having origin; klesha - distressing; AvaliShu - series;
luThata - falling down; khinna - depressed; prapanna - suppliant.

2.  एकॊऽसि त्वं शिव जनिमतामीश्वरॊ
Shiva is the only Ishvara for all others who are born.
The Supreme God is the only Pashupati. All others are
pashus - who are born - irrespective of whether they are
in the bonded or liberated state (even in the liberated state the
souls depend on the Ishvara). The only one who has the title
as Ishvara is Lord Shiva (This is a common practice even today
to refer to Lord Shiva as Ishvara).

c.f. शब्दमीश्वर इत्युच्चैः सार्धचन्द्रं बिभर्ति यः - Kalidasa
ईश्वरः सर्व ईशानः शंकरश्चन्द्रशॆखरः - Amarakosha
