கொடுவினையார் என்றும் குறுகா அடி
குறைந்தடைந்தார் ஆழாமைக் காக்கும் அடி
படு முழவம் பாணி பயிற்றும் அடி
பதைத்தெழுந்த வெங்கூற்றைப் பாய்ந்த அடி
கடு முரண் ஏறூர்ந்தான் கழற் சேவடி
கடல் வையம் காப்பான் கருதும் அடி
நெடுமதியங் கண்ணி அணிந்தான் அடி
நிறைகெடில வீரட்டம் நீங்கா அடி. 6.6.2

Meaning of Thevaram
The Foot That is not bowed down by the people of bad karma;
The Foot That saves from drowning those who bow down;
The Foot That plays the drums and the rhythm;
The Foot That dashed the hurried up cruel death;
The ankleted Foot of the One Who rides the wild bull;
The Foot meditated by the one who protects the ocean surrounded land;
The Foot of the One Who wears the flower of long moon;
The Foot That does not move away from the complete thirukkeDila vIraTTam!
பொருளுரை
கொடிய வினையுடையவர்கள் வணங்காத திருவடி;
வண்ங்குபவர்களை (துயரில்) மூழ்காமல் காக்கும் திருவடி;
முழவும் தாளமும் இசைக்கின்ற திருவடி;
ஆராயாது பதைத்து வந்த கொடிய கூற்றுவனைப் பாய்ந்த திருவடி;
மிகுந்த விரைவுடைய இடபத்தின் மேல் வருவோன் கழலணிந்த திருவடி;
கடல் சூழ்ந்த உலகைக் காப்பவன் சிந்தை செய்யும் திருவடி;
நீண்ட மதியை மலராக அணிந்தான் திருவடி;
நிறைவுடைய திருவதிகைக் கெடில வீரட்டம் நீங்காத திருவடி!
