திருச்சிற்றம்பலம் 

ஓதுவித் தாய்முன் அறவுரை காட்டி அமணரொடே
காதுவித் தாய்கட்ட நோய்பிணி தீர்த்தாய் கலந்தருளிப்
போதுவித் தாய்நின் பணிபிழைக் கிற்புளி யம்வளாரால்
மோதுவிப் பாய்உகப் பாய்முனி வாய்கச்சி யேகம்பனே. 		4.99.1

OdhuviththAy mun aRavurai kATTi amaNaroDE
kAdhuviththAy kaTTa n^Oy piNi thIrththAy kalandharuLip
pOdhuviththAy n^in paNi pizaikkiR puLiyam vaLArAl
mOdhuvippAy ugappAy munivAy kachchi EkambanE

thiruchchiRRambalam 

Meaning:
Educated me; Earlier envisioning me with the
righteousness made me fight and break-away with
jains; Cured the ailing disease; Blending and
blessing made me go forward (in Your path);
If I faulter Thy service, lash me out with a 
tamarind stick. Rejoice it; Be Fierce; Oh Lord
of thirukkachchi Ekambam !

Notes:
1. The God is not just there to keep giving 
what all we seek out. It is in fact the same
Grace of the God that bestows boons on us,
commands the due services, not for Its benefit
but for the benefit of our own ! The same God
Whom we seek to fulfill our desire also has the
right to be stringent in correcting our course.
"managanAy UnRinAnEl maRiththu n^AkkollaiyanRE"
(If He decides to crush, there is can not even 
be an expression that obstructs !)
2. amaNar - jains (as they are naked); kAdhu - 
break; piNi - illness; pOdhuvi - go along;
vaLAr - tender stick; ugappu - joy; munidhal -
angered.
