Without any trace as I entered thiruvaiyARu, saw the male elephant coming with its loving pair. Saw Their Holy Feet, the Unseen I saw !! Notes: 1. This very renowned song is sung by the saint, as he saw the glorious scene of God and Goddess of kayilai appeared in front of him at thiruvaiyARu. The saint was in his pursuit to worship the Seat of Lord at Mount Kailash. He went ahead in the mountains not bothering about the body getting torn off. The Lord Who probably wanted to show the world an easy way to worship kailash, out of the austerities of saint appar, redirected him to take a dip in the nearby pool and come out at thiruvaiyARu. The flawless sage came out of the pond in thiruvaiyARu with a flawless body and saw the splendid scene of kayilAyam appearing in thiruvaiyARu itself ! 2. The internal reference to the above episode is in the song itself as, "yAdhum chuvaDu paDAmal aiyARu aDaikinRa pOdhu". 3. pOdhu could also be interpreted as flower. Then the meaning would be "They enter with flower and water (for worship)." 4. mAdhar - beautiful; kaNNi - snares in the garland; chuvaDu - footprint/trace; piDi - female elephant; kaLiRu - male elephant;
