yaamaamaa n^ii yaamaamaa yaazii kaamaa kaaNaagaa
kaaNaakaamaa kaaziiyaa maamaayaa n^ii maamaayaa

Meaning:
(To correlate with the meaning below read the words as below.

yaam aam maa n^iiyaam aa maa yaazii kaamaa kaaN naagaa
kaaNa kaamaa kaaziiyaa maamaayaa n^ii maamaayaa )

We are pashus (maa); You are pashupati (aa maa); The One Who plays yAz 
(string music instrument), Desirable, Wearing attractive snake, One Who 
made kaama (cupid) invisible, Lord of chiirkaazi remove (n^ii - n^iikku) 
the powerful maaya (that surrounds us), Oh the Lord Who makes the act 
of concealment (thirodhAnam - one of the five deeds of God) !

Notes:
1. One of the works of sambandhar that shows his scholarliness in thamiz.
2. Whether read from start to end or end to start the hymn reads the 
same way (palindrome style - but for the whole hymn). The whole 
padhikam is this way. Hence the padhikam is called thiru mAlai maRRu.
3. Notice that all the letters used are neDil (long vowels). Except 
songs eight and eleven.
