திருச்சிற்றம்பலம் 

சடையா யெனுமால் சரண்நீ யெனுமால்
விடையா யெனுமால் வெருவா விழுமால்
மடையார் குவளை மலரும் மருகல்
உடையாய் தகுமோ இவள்உள் மெலிவே.

Meaning:
She cries, "Oh Lord of Matted Hair ! You are the refuge ! Oh Lord Who 
comes on the bull !" She loses out her energy and fall down. Oh Lord of 
marugal blooming with water-lilies (kuvaLai) in the canals, is the 
suffering of this girl tolerable ?

Notes:
1. A girl and her relative merchant were in deep love. In spite of the 
opposition by the relatives they got married and when the newly married 
couple were travelling through thirumarugal a snake bit the groom when 
he was sleeping. The young girl got the shock of her life. With nobody 
else to console, that girl who firmly relied on Lord shiva was screaming 
in front of the temple. NyAnasambandhar who came there to worship the 
Lord along with the devotees, saw the suffering of this girl, who was 
calling for Lord to help. His heart that is ever filled in devotion, 
poured out this song pleading to Lord to save her. By the Grace of God 
the merchant got back his life marvelously !
2. This padhikam is sung to make soon the wedding that is getting 
postponed because of sarpa dhosham. (The complete padhikam is available
