தோடுடைய செவியன் விடையேறியோர் தூவெண்மதிசூடிக்

ஏடுடையமல ரான்முனைநாட்பணிந் தேத்த அருள்செய்த
பீடுடையபிர மாபுரமேவிய பெம்மா னிவனன்றே. 			1.1.1

சிறப்பு:

1. இப்பாடலே திருஞானசம்பந்தரின் அதிஅற்புதமான, அதிசய சக்தி நிறைந்த 
முதல் பாடலாகும்; தன் உதடுகளில் சொட்டும் பாலைக்  கண்டு, கோபங்கொண்ட 
தன் தந்தையாருக்கு, தனக்கு விடைமேல் காட்சி தரும் இறைவனையும் இறைவியாரையும் 
காட்டுவிக்கும் முகமாக இத்திருப்பாடல் காழிப்பிள்ளையாரின் திருவாயினின்றும் மலர்ந்தது.

2. இப்பாடலின் முதல் எழுத்து "தோ" = த் + ஓ. வேதத்தின் முதல் உயிரெழுத்து 
ஓ (ஓம்); முதல் மெய்யெழுத்து "த்" (திருமுறையில் கடைசி எழுத்து "ம்" (உலகெலாம்). 
ஓம் என்னும் ப்ரணவமே இறைவனைத் தோத்தரிக்கும் முதல் மந்திரமாகும். திருமுறைகளும் 
"ஓ"-வில் (த்+ஓ = "தோ") தொடங்கி, "ம்"-ல் (உலகெலாம்) முடிவடைவது இறைவன் 
கருணையின் சிறப்பாகும்.

Meaning:
The One with ear-ring, Riding the bull, Wearing a chaste-white moon,
Smearing the ash of the cemetry, Thief Who steals my mind, Blessed when 
the lotus one (brahma) worshiped in the past, the Lord of the majestic 
brahmapuram (chIrkAzi), isn't This He ?

Speciality:
1. This is the first song of the prodigy sambandhar. He showed the God 
and Goddess to his furious father who enquired about the milk dripping 
from sambandhar's lips and sang this. (For details see

2. The first letter of this is "thO" = th + O. The first vowel of vedas 
is O (Om) and first consonant is th !! (The last letter in thirumuRai 
is m (ulagelAm). So thirumuRais start with O and end with m, praising 
the Lord symbolised by praNavam)
3. All the panycha kR^itya - five deeds of the Lord are indicated int 
his hymn beautifully. thODuDaiya cheviyan - creation, thUveNmadhi chUDi 
- protection, chuDalaippoDipUchi - reduction (destruction), uLLam kavar 
kaLvan (hiding), aruLcheydha (blessing).
