muruga nAyanAr
In the life stream river kAveri flowing chOza kingdom is the
blooming town pUmpukalUr. This is the place where the thamiz yOgi
thirun^Avukkarachar(1) attained shiva samAdhi. The town where the
humming of the bees goes to the background as the chanting of the holy vEdhas in
the rhythm and sweetness comes to foreground; The drops that bud on the lotus
flowers are less appraciated as the drops of joy that buds on the lotus faces of
devotees look more pleasent.
In that pretty town came the devotee with beautiful heart muruganAr.
In the family that lives in praising the vEdhic salutations to that Three eyed
Beauty, he was born. Excelling in the knowledge, he had a heart that melt very
easily for the Flame like Lord. n^AyanAr whose name is beauty wanted to beautify
the Supreme Beauty with beautiful fragrant flawless flowers. In that great
austerity he brought flowers to ornate the matted hair of the Lord that is
boundless.
Getting up before the Sun sees the day, with clean heart and body, with His
praise in thoughts and tongue, would bring the various wonderful flowers. The
flowers of the forest and that from the hills, the flowers from the ponds or
from the creepers, they would be present in different different baskets and of
course his lotus heart would be there for the Lord - ever fresh. He would then
select the good flowers that is flawless to ornate the blooming form of the
Easily pleased. He made garlands out of them, floral crowns with them, made
strings of flowers and the seperate flowers too that decorate the Heart stealing
Lord in many differnt pleasing fashion. The Lord of varthamAnIchcharam
whose feet are softer than the patals of rose enjoyed the service of this
sincere slave.
With the flowers for that Floral feet in hand and the wisdom of all the holy
scriptures that is the Holy Five Letters in his lips, he drove away all other
dirty smells of material pleasures. Such a great devotee would get the company
of someother great devotee. He was given the boon of being the friend of the
prodigy who called the Lord on the Bull to thwart the ignorance of the masses.
That splendid thirunyAnachampan^dhar(2) along with the old sage of valiant words
thirun^Avukkarachar stayed in his place on their visit to pUmpukalUr. muruga
n^AyanAr took part in the grand wedding celebrations of thirunyAnachampan^dhar
and stayed under the floral feet of Lord shiva through the flame that
appeared in perumaNam by the prayer of thirunyAnachampan^dhar. Let the
relentless service of muruga n^AyanAr in worshipping the konRAi crowned
Lord stay in the mind.
